In the first quarter of 2024, a total of 7.1 million drivers drove for Uber (Dean, Backlink). FSD or Full-Self Driving could eventually replace many people who drive for a living. To make a livable income, many people rely on Uber driving as a second source of income. Unfortunately, FSD which utilizes AI technology could replace many who rely on Uber driving in the near future. With no other viable option to make a decent income, how will those who make less than $40,000-30,0000 a year pay for groceries, rent, internet, and vehicle insurance near future? One can imagine how AI could eventually erase much of middle-class America. Could technology make the middle-class non-existent in many first-world countries?

Similarly, according to NBC News there are 3.5 million truck drivers in the United States. If FSD effects the trucking industry, is it entirely plausible to expect people to adapt and acquire a career in which they’re expected to work with AI? These kinds of jobs will be limited to only a few technologically talented individuals. It isn’t logical to believe that AI will create new jobs while its drastically eliminating jobs that have existed for decades.
