Overview
AI systems from companies like Open AI and Google have been progressing exponentially. Currently, most workers who are highly exposed to having their job replaced are in unknown territory from a psychological perspective. This story puts the reader in the shoes of someone who is likely going to lose their career to AI. The purpose of doing so involves creating awareness about how AI is going to dramatically change the lives of millions of people. This story is meant to be read by those who are in the “high exposure category.” Even though this story involves an author who is being replaced by AI, there will be a time when when AI can mimic certain authors and write content. Unfortunately, anyone who spends most of their working hours in front of a screen will always be in the “high exposure” category.
Purpose
The purpose of this game involves trying to provide users with a sensory experience about what it’s like to be replaced by a machine. “Digital humanities melds hands-on work with vastly expanded data sets, across media and through new couples of the digital and physical, resulting in definitions of engagements with knowledge that encompass the entire human sensorium” (DH Guide).
The Problem
is most people don’t know what it will be like to have their job replaced by AI. Most people who are in the “high exposure” category are in unfamiliar territory and they may not entirely see how AI is a problem until they’re affected by it. White-collar workers need to be more publicly vocal by either protesting or seeking help from their represented officials before it’s too late.
Question
Is it possible to reinforce the urgency of being more vocal about how AI threatens job security by creating a immersive storytelling experience about how AI taking over the field of creative writing?
